At An Apple a Day Academy, our mission is to create a thoughtful, nurturing environment where children feel deeply cared for, inspired to learn, and free to grow into themselves naturally. Founded in 2009 by Christina Miller, our school was created from the belief that early childhood should be rooted in connection, wellness, curiosity, and compassion.
As a mother herself, Christina understood what so many families were searching for in a preschool experience: a place that felt safe, healthy, intentional, and genuinely loving. When she could not find an environment that reflected those values, she created one. What began as a personal vision quickly grew into a school community built with heart, purpose, and a deep respect for childhood.
Our philosophy extends beyond education alone. As a mother not only to children, but also to chickens, dogs, cats, and hopefully many more animals in the future, Christina believes nurturing living beings requires patience, gentleness, responsibility, and connection. That understanding influences every aspect of our school culture and the way we care for each child entrusted to us.
In 2020, Christina’s husband Damian joined An Apple a Day Academy full time as the school continued to grow. Since then, he has been instrumental in helping create and maintain a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for our students, families, and staff.
Our Director, Jennifer Honea, has also been an important part of the An Apple a Day Academy story since the early stages of the school’s growth. Now in her second year serving as Acting Director, Jen continues to evolve as both a leader and mentor to our team. Her commitment to continued education, hands on involvement, and meaningful connections with our students reflects the values we believe truly matter in early childhood education.
At An Apple a Day Academy, we embrace a holistic approach to learning that nurtures the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and environmentally. Through meaningful relationships, sensory rich experiences, nature inspired learning, and a wellness conscious environment, we strive to build a strong foundation not only for each child’s future, but for the future of our world as well.
